Book Review - Wild Card by Asfiya Rahman

Blurb:

Karan Mehrotra thinks he has it all. He is about to marry the love of his life, Riya and is on his way to win at Wimbledon, fulfilling a childhood dream of his.

However destiny has other plans for him and he is forced to put aside his dreams when life throws a wild card at him. Eight years later destiny coyly lays another opportunity in front of him. Does he finally get another chance to fulfill his childhood dream or will he let his fear stop him from taking up the challenge?

Find out how a tennis champion is forced to step away from his fame into obscurity and how a bossy little girl forces him to take up one of the hardest challenges of his life and face the life he had left behind.

About the story:

Karan Mehrotra and his passion for tennis is the center of attraction in this plot. Karan is at the zenith of success when destiny changes the game for him altogether. Because of his responsibility towards his little girl, he says bye to his dreams forever. And then, that little girl pushes him to pursue his goals. To sum it up, the story is about passion, determination, responsibility, failures, and success.

Writing & Narration:

The way writer has presented every single emotion, is appreciable. The story is competence enough to form a connection with readers. The narration part is equally well, too. However, there are few spelling and printing mistakes.

Title & Cover:

The title is entirely appropriate and matches with the content of the book. However, the cover is not much pleasing.

Pros:

  • ·         Inspiring
  • ·         Connects well
  • ·         Perfect characterization

Cons:
  • ·         Spelling and printing mistakes

My verdict:

All of us encounter such problems in our lives which compel us to give up. Our responsibilities overshadow our dreams. However, the only thing that counts is the way you tackle with difficult circumstances and your will to never give up. So, this book is all about determination and passion. It teaches you never to give up. For me, this book was inspiring. Give it a read, and you will find it same, too.
