Book Review - The Three Wise Monkeys by Jeet Gian

Blurb-
The trio – Amar, Akbar, and Anthony – had no clue whatsoever about their goddammit indecisive careers – and – indefinite – struggles.

And that was because they were born with the Peter Pan Syndrome and were simple enough to be tricked by anyone, including their mystifying girlfriends – Meghna, Farah, and Sarah.

And as is the fate of all morons, they were drawn into trouble – deep trouble – of hiding crores of rupees of black money in secret offshore companies.

Will their mistake of turning a blind eye to the philosophy of ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ cost them their careers and put them in prison?

Or

Will Lady Luck change their fortunes forever?

About the story-
The three wise monkeys – Amar, Akbar, and Anthony – depict the youth in a way. The way young generation is getting inclined towards the shortcuts of success, and then gets trapped in deep trouble, is presented amazingly in the book. The book puts forth a serious issue, which is corruption and money laundering, in a hilarious manner. The puns, the dialogues, the theme, and the scenarios – everything is written in a precise way. However, at some situations, the plot also gets confusing.

Writing & Narration-
The writing style of the author is unique. The most difficult thing is to make people laugh and that too, with a book. When you are watching some sorts of videos and the scene is playing in front of your eyes, then it is quite easy to have a good laugh, but when it is about writing the same scenarios down and expecting the readers to have a good laugh is difficult. And, the author has somewhat done that job precisely with his narration.

Albeit there were some of the spelling mistakes that has to be taken care of.

Title & Cover-
The cover of the book is catchy, comical, and gives you the first smirk. The title is appropriate as per the plot. These aspects of the books are quintessential and intrigue the readers towards the story more.

Pros-
  • ·         The story is humorous.
  • ·         The representation of the serious matter in a comical way is apt.
  • ·         The book gives you bout of laughter.

Cons-
  • ·         The proofreading isn’t proper.
  • ·         The story confuses at the certain parts.

My verdict-
Although, the story is gripping and pleasing, but the climax seemed like a Sajid Khan’s movie. The end, especially, was much like a Bollywood film. Anyhow, I think that the author has done a great job in penning down this highly humorous plot. Kudos to the author for that!

The book surely demands every Bibliophile’s attention. After all, it’s much worthy than the regular romance and drama. Have a read once and enjoy the troubles of the Three Wise Monkeys.

Ratings- 4/5
