Book Review- The Harlot and The One-Eyed Monster by Siddharth
Blurb-
She intended love to give everything; she was naïve. Then
she felt her life listen to her prayers only to be torn away from her beloved
by a raging war. This is the classic story of Asya, the wife of a soldier and
her encounter with a mysterious figure during her forlorn period which propels
this tale.
A tale of courage and the essentials necessary for love to
be liberating. It says the story of the heart when one is encountered with
unexpected possibilities bordering the unbelievable. A look at truth from the
point of view from opposite polarities and the journey of Asya into the world
of stranger and her discovery of truth about love.
About the Story-
The story revolves around Asya, who gets married to a
soldier. But, the soldier has to go on a sudden war, so he leaves his
newly-wedded wife behind, all alone. This is the time when she meets a
sculptor, who is known to be a one-eyed monster. The sculptor tells the details
of his past to Asya and narrates the story of his life. The stories that have a
bit of admiration and a bit of shock in them!
Writing & Narration-
The narration of the story is good, average in fact. At some
places, it is confusing. The plot does not hold much clarity. There are a lot
of grammatical mistakes as well. One can pin-point the printing mistakes as
well.
Title & Cover-
The title of the books is appropriate and it matches well
with the plot. As the one-eyed monster narrates his stories to Asya, he also
mentions his encounter with a harlot, and the journey after that. As far as the
cover is concerned, then that is not much appealing.
Pros-
- · The tale is something different from the regular books.
- · The lessons behind the stories are quite motivating.
- · The plot is unique.
Cons-
- · The editing of the book is not up-to-the mark.
- · The plot loses synchronization in between.
My verdict-
The plot of the book is quite unique. It was intriguing, but
only at some places. The book only lacks when it comes to narration and
editing. If these two aspects were correctly done, then this book was perfect.
However, you still can take up this book for a read, just because of its
attractive plot.
